Hello I'm David Swindells, Bark Busters dog training Nottingham and behaviour therapist. My family and I enjoy the companionship of dogs and can't imagine our lives without one. I have owned and worked with dogs for over 40 years. For a number of those years I bred Siberian Huskies and the two dogs with me on my picture are two that I have bred. We have stopped breeding huskies now as we get too upset when the pups leave us even though we know they all went to loving homes!

As well as keeping dogs for companionship I love to see them in action and so enjoy working with my dogs doing both sledging and bikejoring as well as just going for nice long leisurely walks.

Being around dogs so much it was inevitable that I came across many people who were at their wits end and asking me for advice and help. So it seemed a natural step for me to work professionally with dogs. That's what brought me to Bark Busters. I think it's a real shame when I find people who can't enjoy their dog due to serious problem behaviours. They carry on trying to manage their dog behaviours as best they can, often buying expensive training equipment and books that promises to cure the problems. Some of my clients in Nottingham have cupboards full of equipment they have tried over the months, or even years, that haven't worked.

Behaviour like aggression, jumping up, pulling on the lead, not coming back when called, nuisance barking and sibling rivalry between dogs in the same household can really make the owners lives a misery. But there is light at the end of the tunnel – that's why I find my job so rewarding because I know when people call me in, that after analysing the dogs behaviour and temperament I can design an individual and personal dog training programme and teach the techniques and practical training that will work quickly to alter any dogs behaviour; whatever their age. It's great to leave a really happy owner knowing that they can now enjoy their dog, but also giving them the peace of mind that if the dog develops any other unwanted behaviour they can contact me for further training at no additional cost. This is all covered by my service guarantee of either the 12 month or life of dog. They didn't get that with all that expensive equipment!
